Ten Years of Helping Children
Dear Child Sponsor,
The “dog days” of August means that the summer recess is coming to an end. The start of school in September will mark the 10th year that HOLD the children has been helping children in developing countries go to school. Don & Karen Schreier, founders of the HOLD sponsorship program sponsored the first child in 2000. Our good news is that during the 2010-2011 school year more than 425 children from 10 schools in 3 countries will have the opportunity to go to school because of your generosity and support. We give God praise for all He continues to do for the needy of the world.
One of the schools that HOLD supports is Victory Christian Basic School in Barrett Hall, Jamaica. The school functions as a ministry of Victory Christian Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Leroy Blackwood. Victory Christian Basic School is a preschool for 50 to 60 children in this very poor community near Montego Bay. HOLD the children has been helping the children of Barrett Hall attend school since it was founded in 2003. Many of these children would otherwise be left unattended during the day as their parents seek employment. Many Mission Discovery work teams have helped build this church and school. Pastor Leroy and the families of Barrett Hall are very thankful for the support of HOLD sponsors and Mission Discovery work teams.
Please pray for all of the HOLD schools as they prepare to start the new school year. Each of these schools in Haiti, Jamaica and Guatemala struggle financially. Your role as a financial and prayer supporter is vital. Thank you for planting the seed of hope in the lives of needy children.
