Capva School

The Capva School is located in Cite Soleil, Haiti, one of the poorest communities in all of Haiti. It has been many years since the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti and evidence of the destruction is still visible in this troubled community.  Life is not only difficult here, it is quite dangerous.  Desperate people do desperate things.

Christian Alliance School

Christian Alliance School (CAS) is located in the small town of Limonade, just outside Cap Haitien, Haiti's second largest city.  More than 300 students, preschool thru 6th grade, attend the school. Directed by Pastor Aleonce Bazile, the school provides education to children that would otherwise not be in school.  All teachers and their school administrator, Paul Simeus, work selflessly to provide an education to the needy children of this community.  Mission Discovery teams have been visiting and supporting CAS since 2009.  Many of the team have become HOLD the Children advocates, investing in the education of the children of Limonade.  Supporters from South Florida are helping to complete the construction of the school.  HOLD the Children is making a difference for good in the lives of children in Haiti. Thank you for choosing to help.

HOLD the Children Home

Dr. Don Schreier and Pastor Exante stood on the side of the mountain overlooking the banana field that joined the property of the HOLD the Children sponsored school in Lavaud, Haiti.  The two agreed this would be a perfect place for an orphanage.  In this small country of 10.5 million people, with more than 450,000 orphaned or abandoned children, there is definite need for an orphanage. The two visionaries decided to proceed to build a safe place for children.  HOLD the Children Home was born.

Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf

Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf (JCSD) is located in the mountains of Eden District just outside of Montego Bay, Jamaica. JCSD is a residential school that cares for 45 special needs children. In 1986 an AMD missionary went to Jamaica to minister to deaf children starting a school and naming it the Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf. In 2000, the operation of the school was entrusted to Jamaican nationals and continues today under their leadership. JCSD’s 15 staff members provide general education classes, Bible instruction and Christian love and witness to each student. Construction is progressing on a vocational tech center that will provide older children with work experience in areas of auto mechanics, welding, hairdressing, computers, office work, graphic arts, dressmaking and other trades. This training will enable the children the opportunity to live independent lives. JCSD is a private school not funded by the Jamaican government. Therefore, the school is always in need of help.

Onaville School

The School in Onaville is located on the outskirts of Port au Prince, Haiti.  It is one of the newest of the HOLD the Children sponsor schools.  This school was founded in 2015 after families settled in Onaville "temporarily" after the 2010 earthquake that destroyed much of Port au Prince.  The town became permanent over time and Pastor Noel saw the need for a primary school.  Pastor Noel is the school's Director and is a long time partner and friend of Mission Discovery.  We are excited about the opportunity to help support his school through the HOLD sponsorship program.  Some of our Mission Discovery trips to Port au Prince, Haiti have the opportunity to visit this school!

Port de Paix Schools

HOLD the Children currently supports six schools in conjunction with the New Haitian Mission Baptist Association (NHMBA).  These six schools are located throughout the Port de Paix area of Haiti in Bassin Bleu, Cabaret, Lavaud, Nazareth, New Bethlehem, and Port de Paix.  The Port de Paix schools are where HOLD the Children all began back in the year 2000.  Here’s a little more information on each of these schools…

Bassin Bleu is the birthplace of Pastor Cherelus Exante, founder and president of NHMBA.  This school is in a very poor area of Haiti where most children do not attend school.  NHMBA, with the help of HOLD the Children sponsors, opened the school in 2011. There is a great need for additional sponsors.  Nearly 100 children attend this single room school in Bassin Bleu.
