Dear HOLD the Children Sponsor,

Thank you for sponsoring a child through Mission Discovery’s HOLD the Children.  Your support and prayers are a very important part of our students’ lives. We appreciate all you do for our ministry, and we are excited to share some news that will allow us to do more for the children in our program.

We want to make you aware of an important change that will affect how you donate and communicate.  This change will provide the means to a sponsor-child relationship and allow for child specific updates.  Starting April 1, 2024, we will transition your pledge and sponsorship communications to our trusted partner: BrightPoint for Children (BPFC), dba Child Sponsorship Services.   

Please carefully review all information below to help with questions you may have about this transition.  

Why is this change being made?

As we have grown in scope and mission, we have determined it was time to look for help with our child sponsorship program.  BrightPoint for Children is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that partners with mission minded organizations to manage the administration of their sponsorship programs.  This allows the mission organization to focus on our goals of providing care to impoverished children and their schools.  BPFC has been working in this field for over 17 years and has the experience and capabilities we need to support and grow our sponsorship program.

What should I do to continue sponsoring my child?

You don’t have to do anything unless we contact you personally for more information.  After April 1, you will receive a welcome email from BPFC on our behalf.  This will provide you with information on how to access your new sponsorship account online.  By logging into the sponsor portal, you will be able see photos of your child as well as view your account information and make changes when necessary.  We are working toward making letter writing available between sponsor and child through this portal as well. 

For those who donate via automatic recurring transaction: you do not need to do anything.  Your donation will continue and the only difference you will notice is that beginning April 1, your payment will process as “Child Sponsorship Services” instead of “Mission Discovery.”

For those who send an automated bank check: please contact your bank this month and update who the check is made out to, AND the mailing address as detailed above.

Will my donation still support HOLD/Mission Discovery?

Yes.  Your donations will continue supporting your sponsor student in your respective HOLD School(s), or our HOLD Home Orphanage.  Your giving will continue to provide for their education, school uniform and supplies, as well as teachers’ salaries. 

What is the timeframe for this transition?

We are working diligently to make this transition effective April 1, 2024.

Will the cost of sponsorship change?  

The amount you are currently paying for your sponsorship will not change.  However, new sponsorships will now be $39 monthly to account for inflation and rising costs.  If you are currently paying less than $39 monthly, we would love for you to consider increasing your donation to $39 per month.  You will have the opportunity to do so after the transfer takes place on April 1.  If you need to change the frequency of your donations, BPFC can accommodate a variety of options – monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, and annually.  After April 1, you may call them with any questions at 770.559.9338 or email them at [email protected].  

What payment options does BPFC accept?

BPFC accepts all major credit cards (Visa/MC/Discover/Amex) and electronic checks through ACH.  They can also process your monthly sponsorship payment via check if you prefer to mail it to their office at HOLD Child Sponsorship, PO Box 71447, Marietta, GA 30007.   BPFC is a registered 501(c) (3) organization and contributions are tax deductible under section 170 of the Federal Internal Revenue Code.   

How often will I receive updates on my child?

We will share updates on your child once per year initially with plans to move toward twice per year. These communications will be shared on your new sponsorship portal, and you will receive an email whenever there is new content regarding your child. If you do not have an email, these will be mailed to you.  However, email is BPFC’s preferred and quickest form of communication; they may be reaching out to ask for your email address if it has not been provided to HOLD the Children in the past.

What else should I know?

Please know that the children you support are some of the most impoverished and needy in the world, and we hope this transition will not deter you from continuing your support.
