This month begins with sad news from our Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf.  One of our students there, Lorenzo, recently passed away.  He arrived at JCSD in recent years at the age of 15.  He was born deaf and never learned to communicate.  He had many medical complications.  He was a bright young man with a beautiful smile.  His peaceful presence and kind demeanor were a blessing to all who knew him.  We rest in the knowledge that Lorenzo is now with Jesus.  Pray for the family he leaves behind, the JCSD community, and for all who supported him and were touched by his beautiful life.

In other news, in Haiti, many schools and businesses in the Port au Prince area have been closed the first week of this month due to continued protests in an attempt to remove the current president from office.  Our students are safe, especially those in Cap Haitien and Port de Paix, and they are glad to be back in school after their summer break.  Pray for the country of Haiti and those in leadership.  Pray for peace and for God’s hand to lead, guide, and protect.  Thank you for your prayers and support of HOLD the Children!  Your giving makes education possible for thousands of children in need in Haiti, Jamaica, and Guatemala.
