“The Good News delivered by angels is for ‘all’ people, including you and me. “God’s love and our salvation are completely expressed and fully accomplished in Jesus Christ. That is good news” says Eugene Peterson. When we consider this proclamation brought to the world on that first Christmas night, it is truly good news for everyone, even for those who reject it. Our Christmas prayer is for opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with someone who needs to hear the Good News of Christmas: “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people” (Luke 2:10). A message of hope and salvation.
It’s hard to believe, Darlene and I are completing our fourth year of serving with Mission Discovery.
We are amazed how God provides for us in so many ways. A year ago, Don Schreier resigned his position with Mission Discovery leaving me to lead the tremendous work of HOLD the children. I accepted the challenge, knowing it was God’s responsibility to continue caring for the thirty two children in the HOLD Orphanage in Haiti; that He is the provider for the more than 1,250 children going to HOLD the children schools. God gets the credit for bringing more than 100 new child sponsors in 2011. Work on churches in
Haiti, and the Vocational Center at the Jamaican Christian School for the Deaf displays God’s hand on the work being done. We thank God forbeing our source of strengthand our provider throughout 2011.
Personally, it’s been a difficult year for us. Darlene has battled several health issues, the latest being a narrowing esophagus that prevents her from eating normally. God used these experiences to show His amazing love for us. He surrounded us with an incredible family that stood by Darlene when I was away on mission trips. We are thankful for our Mission Discovery family as they extended compassion in giving me the flexibility to be with Darlene when I needed to be. Special thanks to Mike Burns, Carl Pregel and Gary Lane for taking over the project in Tennessee so I could be with Darlene in the hospital. We are especially grateful for our spiritual family at Emmanuel Church who faithfully support us prayerfully and financially. We are privileged to be part of these loving families.
Darlene and I are grateful for your faithful prayers and your generous financial support. We are excited about what God has for us in 2012!
