Valerie arrived at the orphanage in September, 2013. She had been living with neighbors in the city of Port de Paix. When she is looking for fun, she likes to play with dolls. She really likes school and French is her favorite subject. She wants to be a nurse to take care of sick people when she is older! She would also like to go to the US someday. Her best friend is Guerlandine who lives in the HOLD Home.
Like many children in Haiti, Valerie was treated very poorly by the family she was living with before coming to the HOLD Home. She is very friendly and likes to play with the other children. The cost of caring for a child at the HOLD Orphanage is approximately $5 a day or $150 a month. It also costs $30 a month to send each of the children to school.
