Nerline was born in the nearby town of Basson Bleu.  When she is not busy with school, she likes to play “lago” which is Hide and Seek.  She likes to study French and hopes to be a doctor when she grows up.  She would also like to travel.  None of the children in the HOLD Home have ever been outside of Haiti.  She told us that her dream is to be “somebody”.  Of course we told her she is already somebody because the King of the universe made her and loves her!

Nesly started out as one of our younger boys in the HOLD Home.  He is usually pretty quiet and observant when visitors are there.  He likes to sit back and watch everything that is going on.  He will participate in games or other events when lead by someone else who wants him to be involved, but he rarely jumps at the opportunity to do something new on his own.  He is a little shy with new folks, but amongst his friends he can be heard chattering away.  He hopes to be a pastor someday!

Rose-Merline arrived at the HOLD the Children Home in February 2012 and is from Port de Paix.  She is very comfortable at the Home and has many friends, she gets along well with everyone.  Like so many of the children at the Home, she came from a very abusive life in Port de Paix.  We are grateful that she was able to come to the HOLD Home. Sendy is in High School!  And he was one of the first children to arrive at the HOLD the Children Home.  He was admitted to the Home in March of 2010, only a few months after the devastating earthquake in Haiti.  He is from the small town of Jean Rabel.  Sendy likes to work!  He enjoys getting his hands dirty farming and cleaning the garden on the HOLD Home property.  His favorite subject in school is Experimental Science (like Biology), which is great because he would like to be a doctor when he grows up.  He would also love to visit Port-au-Prince in the future.

Valerie arrived at the orphanage in September, 2013.  She had been living with neighbors in the city of Port de Paix.  When she is looking for fun, she likes to play with dolls.  She really likes school and French is her favorite subject.  She wants to be a nurse to take care of sick people when she is older!  She would also like to go to the US someday.  Her best friend is Guerlandine who lives in the HOLD Home.

Wadson St. Gera is now one of the youngest living in the Home!  He joined us in the fall of 2015 and at that time, was only four years old.  He has had a birthday since then and has settled in well to the routines and community of the HOLD Home.  The other children have welcomed him warmly and are helpful in taking care of Wadson.  He now has several brothers and sisters looking after him!  It’s one big family in the HOLD Home with several women taking excellent care of each of the children.

Woodesky is in high school!  He is a pretty typical teenager.  When asked what he likes to do when he isn’t busy, he said he likes sleeping!  He is not lazy though.  He loves cleaning, especially mopping!  Because of this, he is very helpful around the Home.  He enjoys math class at school and would like to be an engineer so he can build houses when he grows up.  He would also like to visit the USA one day.

Alex is one of the coolest children in the world.  He has a contagious laugh and is always joking around with his friends. You rarely see him sitting still because he is almost always the head of the line of kids playing "bus driver" when he's not in class.  He became a student at the Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf in 2009 when his mom reported to a friend that he needed help. Alex is bright, loves to learn, and loves to play on the playground after school each day.  He is also very helpful.

Anabelle is one of the younger children attending the Onaville School.  Children start school very young in Haiti, because by the time they are 7 or 8 years old they are forced to work to help support the family.  Education in Haiti is not available to everyone.  Survival causes education be secondary.  Becasue of HOLD the Children sponsors, there are more than 200 children in the Onaville School.  Thank you for helping Anabelle and the other children go to school.
