Rayon came to JCSD at the beginning of the 2013-14 school year. He has a positive attitude towards his work. He believes in himself and thinks that he can do everything; this shows in his work. This is Roodneldy's first year in school.  Often Haitian children go to school very young because there is no one to watch the young children during the day while parents work to earn enough to feed their families. Life in Haiti is very hard.  HOLD the Children is happy to help support for school.  Roodneldy's favorite color is red and favorite subject is math.  Roodneldy wants to be a lawyer when he grows up so that he can help those who get in trouble.  In Haiti, a lawyer is called an 'advocat.'  Roodneldy wants to be an advocate for the poor.

Rose-Merline arrived at the HOLD the Children Home in February 2012 and is from Port de Paix.  She is very comfortable at the Home and has many friends, she gets along well with everyone.  Like so many of the children at the Home, she came from a very abusive life in Port de Paix.  We are grateful that she was able to come to the HOLD Home. Roselord is a pretty girl and is grateful to be able to attend school.  She and her two sisters are orphans, living with extended family.  There are more than 450,000 children in Haiti that are considered to be orphans.  Some of them live in institutional facilities, some live with extended family and some live on their own.  It is a sad fact, but there are many very young children who are taken in by families to be their household servants.  This practice is very common in Haiti.  Fortunately, for Roselord, she has extended family and is able to attend school.

Roudena has one of the most beautiful smiles in the school!  Her bright countenance is wonderful to see in the midst of such extreme poverty.  In the community of Onaville where Roudena lives, most families live in small shacks.  This community was created after the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.  Families relocated here thinking it would be temporary, and now all these years later, they are still there.  As a result, infrastructure in Onaville is developing and now these children have a school to attend!  In sponsoring Roudena you can help continue the work of HOLD the Children in Onaville.  Pl
