Armstrong and his brother Kerry began attending the Onaville School when it opened in 2015. They are grateful for the opportunity to go to school.  It takes a lot of money to keep the school open.  Most parents do not have money to pay tuition to attend.

This is a young gentleman who is intentional with the conversations he has with anyone. He is one of the more chill/quiet ones, but when you are with him for a little while, his sassy flare comes out and he is hilarious.  Atikell started school with a positive attitude in regards to work and behavior.  He tries hard and this results in acquiring mastery and near mastery in most areas. Atikell came to JCSD at the beginning of the 2013-14 school year. He had very little previous interaction with other kids, which is why he had some challenges getting along.

Barbara attends the Capva School in Cite Soleil, one of the poorest areas of all Haiti.  She lives there with her mom, three brothers and two sisters.  It is very hard for her mom to feed all of the children.  She is grateful that Barbara is in school.  Barbara wants to be a nurse when she grows up so she can help sick children.  Her favorite class in school is English class. Being able to speak English is very valuable when it comes time for her to get a job.  Would you like to help Barbara learn to speak English?  You can do that through HOLD the Children Sponsorship.

Benndjina Jean was added to our HOLD Home family in October of 2016.  She is from Port de Paix, which is the town where our orphanage is located.  She loves playing hide and seek – called “lago” in Creole.  She likes writing when she’s in school, and when she grows up, she would like to travel.

Calia and most of the other children were a little nervous about the Mission Discovery team taking their picture.  It didn't take long for the kids to warm up.  They are always ready to play and have fun when the Mission Discovery teams come to visit.  Children like Calia are among the fortunate to be in school.  Many Haitian children do not attend school. They are not required because they cannot pay the tuition.  Others are not encouraged about the importance of being educated.
