WHAT IS HOLD THE CHILDREN ?

HOLD the Children is a ministry of Mission Discovery and is a child advocacy program founded in 2000. HOLD stands for His Outreach for Learning and Development. Since its beginning, thousands of children in three different countries have received an education that was once thought impossible. Hundreds more have been given a place to call home. HOLD the Children was created to help poor children in developing countries acquire an education and to provide compassionate care for abandoned or abused children.

HOLD the Children follows the ‘two hands’ ministry model of Jesus Christ. With one hand Jesus called people saying, “Come follow me” (Mark 1:17). This is the hand of truth. HOLD encourages people to find forgiveness and healing, hope and restoration, truth and guidance for life through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. With the other hand Jesus reached out to touch and help those in need (Mark 1:41). This is the hand of compassion. HOLD helps the needy via responsible, compassionate care. The application of this care is guided by local churches and community leaders. The goal of HOLD is to empower people to help themselves and to help others for the glory of God.

HOLD the Children exists to glorify God by advocating for the needy and empowering them via truth and compassionate care.

WHAT WE DO

HOLD the Children cares about children. Too often children suffer due to poverty, political instability, disease, abandonment, exploitation and other injustices. HOLD the Children helps children find hope to rise above their difficult circumstances.

CHILD SPONSORSHIP

Give hope to a child in need by helping them go to school. $30 a month helps provide teacher ’s salaries, school uniforms, and school supplies. Provide for an orphan in Haiti. $150 a month covers the cost of living for one child in our Home.

Our Schools

HOLD operates 9 schools in Haiti, 2 in Jamaica, and 1 in Guatemala. These 12 schools provide education to more than 2,500 students. In addition to our schools, we have an orphanage in Haiti that is home to 45 abandoned children.

A Lifetime of Hope

Your giving changes the course of a child’s life. By providing an education, or supplying full-time care for an orphan, you give a child the opportunity to succeed. You give them a lifetime of hope.

OUR BELIEFS

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative word of God.

  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • We believe in the deity and humanity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present rule as Head of the Church and in His personal return in power and glory.

  • We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, with equality across racial, gender, and class differences.
