Schools

The Capva School is located in Cite Soleil, Haiti, one of the poorest communities in all of Haiti. It has been more than five years since the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti and evidence of the destruction is still visible in this troubled community.  Life is not only difficult here, it is quite dangerous.  Desperate people do desperate things.

Christian Alliance School (CAS) is located in the small town of Limonade, just outside Cap Haitien, Haiti's second largest city.  More than 125 students, grades k thru 8, attend the school. Directed by Pastor Aleonce Bazile, the school provides education to children that would otherwise not be in school.  Eight teachers and school administrator, Paul Simeus, work selflessly to provide an education to the needy children of this community. Mission Discovery teams have been visiting and supporting CAS since 2009.

Dr. Don Schreier and Pastor Cherelus Exante’ stood on the side of the mountain overlooking the banana field that adjoined the property of the HOLD the Children sponsored school in Lavaud, Haiti.  The two agreed that this would be a perfect place for an Orphanage.  In this small country of 10.5 million people, with more than 450,000 orphaned or abandoned children there is a definite need for an Orphanage. The two visionaries decided to proceed to build a safe place for children.  HOLD the Children Home was birthed.

Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf (JCSD) is located in the mountains of Eden District just outside of Montego Bay, Jamaica. JCSD is a residential school that cares for 45 special needs children. In 1986 an AMD missionary went to Jamaica to minister to deaf children starting a school and naming it the Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf. In 2000, the operation of the school was entrusted to Jamaican nationals and continues today under their leadership. JCSD’s 15 staff members provide general education classes, Bible instruction and Christian love and witness to each student.

Kairos Christian School, located in Ciudad Vieja (the old city) Guatemala, was founded by Mayra Garcia in 2010. Beginning as a Saturday feeding program for needy children, Kairos has grown into a school for children in grades 1 thru 8. Here is Mayra's story of the beginning of Kairos School.

HOLD the Children currently supports five schools in conjunction with the New Haitian Mission Baptist Association (NHMBA).  These five schools are located in Basson Bleu, Lavaud, Nazareth, New Bethlehem, and Port de Paix- all throughout Haiti.  Here’s a little more information on each of these schools…

The School in Onaville is the newest of the HOLD the Children Sponsor schools in Haiti.  This school was founded in 2015 and is directed by Pastor Noel Gespere.  Pastor Noel is a long time partner and friend of Mission Discovery and we are excited about the opportunity to help support this school through the HOLD sponsorship program.  Mr. Cadet Monpelor is the principal of the school.

Victory Christian Fellowship Supreme Basic School (VCFSBS) began in September of 2003. Pastor Leroy Blackwood’s vision is to provide education and training for poor pre-school age children in the Lilliput community. Community children from age 3 thru 6 attend the VCF School. Mission Discovery has partnered with Pastor Blackwood for more than five years, helping to construct the three story school building that houses the Victory Christian Fellowship Church and School. There are 46 children registered for the 2009-2010 school year.
