Children

Nicoya is an excellent and hardworking student. She has a problem with her eyes and recently had to get a pair of glasses. In June 2009, Nicoya won a national spelling bee in Montego Bay

Monique’s father passed away in 2010. Monique is diabetic but for now has it controled with insulin shots. Her mother tries her best to care for Monique and her siblings. She is a very pleasant girl at school. She processes things a little slower than some of the other children, but she tries very hard to keep up.

Nickay is growing into a fine young lady. She wants to be a teacher when she finishes school. She works hard at school and her attendance is very good. Nickay likes to help with the younger children at school. She is committed to doing her best at JCSD.

Shawna-Kay lives with her grandmother, who is not well physically. Shawna-Kay does not process things quickly causing her to block things out for a few minutes, and then she can return to the situation. She will have a CT scan to see if there are any neurological problems. Rather than go home, Shawna-Kay often stays with a staff members on week-ends.

Suzie was graduated from primary school by St Christopher School for the Deaf. She came to JCSD in September 2010 and has been doing great in school. She lives with a foster family. She is eager to learn and excited about being at JCSD.

Owayne is very emotional. His face shows his excitement and enthusiasm for life. Owayne wants a better life for himself and his family. They live in a very rough and dangerous community and he urges his mother to move to another location. Owayne has high aspirations.

Trishana is a 2010 graduate from St Christopher School for the Deaf. She was not able to start at JCSD September because of illness. She lives with her mother and grandmother. SHe has two sisters.
