Children

Lishawn lives near Barrett Hall in the community of Rose Hall and attends Victory Christian Fellowship School under the direction of Pastor Leroy Blackwood and his staff of teachers. Lishawn has adjusted very well to school life. He was not happy about school when he started attending Victory Christian Fellowship last year. He has become very comfortable and is learning a lot.  Each day the school is full of life and learning. Each child receives a school uniform, a lunch and a quality pre-school education.

Tevin is a very hard worker in class. He is in the special education unit. He tries but easily gives up when he is unable to do the task. Tevin is a favorite with the teachers at the school. Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf (JCSD) is located in the mountains of Eden District just outside of Montego Bay, Jamaica. JCSD is a residential school that cares for 33 special needs children. Founded in 1990 as a subsidiary of American Ministries to the Deaf, JCSD

Miguel is doing well in class; he is always eager to try in class even if he is unsure of what is to be done. Miguel is always very helpful around school. He lives with his father and grandmother.

Owayne is very emotional. His face shows his excitement and enthusiasm for life. Owayne wants a better life for himself and his family. They live in a very rough and dangerous community and he urges his mother to move to another location. Owayne has high aspirations.

Keron is the oldest of three children in his family. His mother died in 2009 of breast cancer. Keron’s father is having a difficult time supporting the family, but he is doing the best he can. Keron is happy at school and wishes he could stay all the time.

Mitchroy is a new student at Victory Christian Fellowship. Mitchroy likes playing football, that's soccor for Americans, with his friends. He dreams of being a professional player when he grows up. In school, mitchroy enjoys coloring and writing. He lives with his mother and three siblings in the small community of Barrett Hall, Jamaica.

Omar lives with his mother and 4 siblings in the small village of Barrett Hall, He attends Victory Christian Fellowship Preschool. Omar is a very smart child whi enjoys spelling and math classes at school best. He especially likes to play footbal with the other children at school. Some day he hopes that he can play professional football.

Dewayne is new this year at Victory Christian Fellowship Preschool. He Lives in Barrett Hall with hs mother and 4 siblings. His favorite classes in school are writing and math. Dewayne is very thankful that he is able to attend school at VCF. He likes to learn new things especially about Jesus and his love for him. Dewayne dreams of being a soldier when he grows up.

Romeo has Downs Syndrome. He is a special child at Victory Christian Fellowship. Pastor Leroy and the staff are happy to help care for hime during the school day. Unlike in the US there are no agencies in Jamaica that help care for or provide for special needs children. Romeo lives in Barrett Town with his mother and father and sisters. He is a very happy child is likes coloring at VCF.

Letroy lives in Barrett Town with both of his parents and a sister. Letroy is very happy to be able to go to school at Victory Christian Fellowship. He knows that it is only because of HOLD the children supporters that he is able to go to school. Letroy enjoys coloring and writing in school and he likes playing football with the other kids in school. Letroy dreams of being a soldier when he grows up.

Adelin attends the Christian Alliance School in Cap Haitian, Haiti. He likes learning new things in school. He especially likes to read. Someday he hopes he can learn to speak and read in English so he can talk with the missionaries when they come to visit from HOLD the children. He wants to thank everyone who helps to support his school. HOLD the children sponsorships help to pay teachers, to buy school supplies, and uniforms and help provide a lunch for the children during the school day. Without the help provided by HOLD many of these children would not be able to go to school.

Wedlin and his twin brother Wedley both came to the HOLD the children Orphanage in January 2012. The two brothers are inseparable. They enjoy doing everything together. Wedlin and his brother attend school across the courtyard at the NHMBA School in LaVaud. They have adjusted to their new home very well. Wedlin is very demonstrative when tryong to get someone to pronounce his name correctly. It is easy to get the two brothers confused.

Wedley and his brother Wedlin are identical twins. They have been living at the HOLD the children Home in LaVaud since January of 2012. They attend school across the courtyard at the NHMBA School. They are both very sensitive to how their names are pronounced, so they are quick to correct you if you don’t pronounce their names correctly. Wedley wants to be a doctor someday so he can help sick children. Both Wedley and Wedlin are very smart children. They want to learn how to speak English so they can talk with the Missionaries that come to visit them.
